Public Works Construction Project Manager (Danville)

Perform complex professional work directing and implementing the design, bidding, construction, maintenance, and documentation of major long-term City-wide projects construction projects (new buildings or maintenance and alterations of existing buildings). Oversees construction projects from inception through concept, design, and engineering through completion and occupancy. Responsible for keeping projects flowing smoothly while remaining on time and within budget. Coordinates with city, state, and federal agencies, as well as with the Citys Utilities Department. Keeps City team informed of project statuses and makes recommendations for sound projects.

- Works as a project manager by initiating, planning, and executing projects; monitoring, controlling, reviewing, approving, and tracking the project budget; receiving feedback from the owners, contractors, engineers, etc.; escalating project issues as warranted; and ensuring completion of projects.
- Designs specifications and writes contracts.
- Coordinating site inspections for compliance with project plans and specifications.
- Reviewing and approving project submittals; coordinating project team meetings and project reviews.
- Making presentations to boards, council, state and local officials.
- Provide emergency response during severe weather (snow, flood, storms, etc.)

Education and Experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the specific requirements listed above Certifications/Licenses
Bachelors Degree, with broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field, and five to seven years of experience.Valid Drivers License with acceptable driving record according to City Criteria

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
Typically requires use of standard office equipment, including computer and related software and hardware; and any other equipment as appropriate or required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work is performed on job sites, where there is occasional exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical and fire hazards. There is seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures. There is rare exposure to communicable diseases and physical danger or abuse.
The employee is expected to use appropriate protective equipment for the assigned task (hard hat, safety vest, steel toe shoes, eye and hearing protection, etc.); and any other equipment as apparent or assigned.
