An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Director of Surgical Services to join a high-performing hospital in Northern Virginia. This position is ideal for a strong surgical services leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a proven record of operational excellence in perioperative care.

Position Overview:
The Director of Surgical Services provides strategic and operational leadership for all surgical departments, overseeing a team of over 100 FTEs and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This leader will be instrumental in driving surgical volume, optimizing workflow, enhancing patient outcomes, and maintaining regulatory compliance across all surgical areas.

The facility features 18 operating rooms and 2 endoscopy suites , performing approximately 12,000 surgical cases annually . It is recognized as a leading destination for spine surgery in Northern Virginia and also offers a robust mix of specialties including neurosurgery, general surgery, orthopedics, cardiovascular, robotics, and oncology. The hospital utilizes advanced surgical technologies, including 2 Mako robots, 2 Globus systems, and 3 da Vinci XI systems , and is preparing to launch a new open heart program in early 2026 .

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide operational oversight and strategic leadership for all perioperative services

• Collaborate with medical staff and executive leadership to achieve departmental and hospital goals

• Ensure compliance with all clinical, safety, and quality standards

• Manage budgets, staffing, and equipment resources effectively

• Lead initiatives to improve patient satisfaction, workflow efficiency, and team performance

Reporting Structure:

• Reports directly to the COO

• Two managers report to the Director, along with a CVOR Manager (dotted-line reporting to the Director)

Qualifications:

• BSN required (Masters preferred)

• Previous Director-level experience in Surgical Services required

• Operating Room experience required

• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
