Financial Reporting Analyst IV

Here's What You Need: Bachelor's degree in accounting with five years of experience including one year as a supervisor in a diverse, complex accounting environment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You must demonstrate extensive knowledge of GAAP; possess experience in managing the year-end closing of financial accounts and records, including the related financial report compilations, and workpapers for the external audit. You must have excellent analytical and decision-making skills; and effective communication skills for collaborating at all levels in a complex organization. Effective time management and the ability to prioritize competing priorities is an essential skill. Government accounting experience and CPA, CPFO, CGFM or other relevant certification preferred. What You Do and How You Do It: A Financial Reporting Analyst IV is a results-oriented member of the General Accounting management team. As a highly skilled working supervisor of a professional team comprised of two financial reporting analysts, you will have a wide range of responsibilities. This includes:

• Completing the annual financial statement for assigned funds.
• Completing or reviewing special purpose financial reporting for assigned funds.
• Preparing audit tasks and related workpapers.
• Preparing, compiling and reviewing journal entries for varying levels of complexity.
• Collaborating with staff of varying levels of experience to propose general ledger or job ledger structure for new programs with a strong emphasis on internal controls.
• Interpreting and complying with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory standards.
• Participating in the implementation of new accounting standards and serving as the general ledger and financial reporting subject matter expert for assigned funds.
• Compiling data related to assigned funds for other required reporting such as the Commonwealth of VA Auditor of Public Accounts required Local Government Comparative Cost Report, US Census Bureau Annual Survey of County Government Finances Report, the Popular Annual Financial Report, and Cost Allocation Plan.
• Applying strong analytical skills and sound professional judgment.
• Managing competing priorities and complex deadline driven projects.
• Train, supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff.
• Perform various other duties as assigned.
