Job Summary and Qualifications

At Henrico Doctors’ Hospital, our OB Antepartum Unit is a brand new state-of-the-art facility consisting of 21 private OB / Antepartum rooms supported by a team of physicians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, nurses, educators, Perinatal Navigator, Clinical Support Coordinators, and social workers to guide patients through their OB/antepartum, post-partum, or GYN surgical stay. The primary patient population is Antepartum, where pregnant patients stay for a period of days to months when they are too sick to go home but not yet ready to deliver. These patients rely on the skills of the team that partners with the Labor & Delivery unit if a higher level of care is needed. In addition, post partum patients who have a baby that needs NICU care are placed here. The "NICU Moms" often provide excellent feedback about the care and compassion the OB Antepartum team provides during a stressful time. A smaller portion of the patient population is GYN Surgical. These are primarily women in the post operative period who have had a hysterectomy, D&C, bladder surgery and some plastics.

In addition to the OB Antepartum unit, The Women’s Hospital at Forest includes a 16 bed LDR with 3 OR suites, a level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), and a 35 bed Mother Baby unit. We provide 24/7 coverage with OB Hospitalist, MFM specialist, CNM, Anesthesiologist and Neonatologist for all pregnancies, births and neonates, high or low risk.

• The OB Antepartum nurse is responsible for ongoing maternal and fetal assessments, post partum assessments and post operative assessments, where applicable; and documentation of the above
• Effective and professional communication with internal and external customers
• Effective time management and organizational skills
• Passion for the patient population we serve

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)
• Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or a compact license
• Current BLS certification
• Within six months of hire, you must obtain your NRP certification & Basic Fetal Monitoring
