NRA National Shooting Coach Trainer
1. Supervise the integration of and provide leadership development of NRA Coaches from the "grassroots" up through the national and international program levels within departmental guidelines.
2. Coordinate and administer NRA Coach School programs (both American and international sports) with program partners (USA Shooting, Amateur Trapshooting Association, National Skeet Shooting Association, National Sporting Clays Association, Civilian Marksmanship Program, etc.) within departmental guidelines.
3. Conduct Coach Education and National Coach Development Staff training within departmental guidelines.
4. Responsible for working with the appropriate subject matter experts in the writing and editing of Shotgun, Pistol and Rifle coach curriculum.
5. Recruit, select, train, direct and assist National Coach Development Staff. Direct and Assist National Coach Development staff to develop and update coach school instructor and related instructional materials. Coordinate these activities with other NRA Divisions as necessary.
6. Assist Coaches with the administration and coordination of Shotgun, Pistol and Rifle Coach Schools, Clinics and Camps.
7. Develop and maintain a 5-year plan which is updated annually within departmental guidelines.
8. Serve as liaison between Youth Organizations promoting the Coach program and other NRA Youth Programs
9. Assist with Youth Programs initiatives and events
10. Stay up-to-date with firearms industry developments, trends, and new training aids/materials used for marksmanship development that may complement the NRA Shooting Coach program.
11. Evaluate, monitor and test emerging technology used specifically for marksmanship skill development and adult learning processes and implement into the Coach Training program as appropriate. Examples would be the use of web-based training, laser, cellular and video technology.
12. Provide day-to-day assistance and support to NRA National Coach Development Staff and shooting coaches by reviewing, analyzing, and responding appropriately to telephone and program correspondence in a timely manner.
13. Keep National Coach Development Staff and coaches updated on program policy, procedures, materials and techniques.
14. Develop program-related marketing and sales strategies in support of NRA Division objectives.
15. Participate in an annual evaluation of all Education & Training division programs and processes and recommend updates as appropriate to maintain the integrity of programs.
16. Monitor and review monthly program budget variances and make appropriate adjustments with the annual budget review/submission.
17. Develop and maintain a standard operating procedure book for these programs.
18. Motivate and supervise technical staff in a time sensitive environment.
19. Perform other duties as assigned.SCOPE: High visibility with other NRA divisions, NRA membership, ILA, industry, national youth development and shooting sports associated organizations, public and federal, state and local government agencies. Position requires the lifting and carrying of up to 60 lbs of material, as well as ability to stand for long periods of time while conducting instructional seminars. Occasional travel and weekend work required. Position functions in a fast-paced work environment with minimal direct supervision. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: B.A. or B.S. degree required. Advanced degree in appropriate field desirable. Equivalent experience or demonstrated skills may be considered in lieu of degree. Three years experience as a professional educator, coaching or instructing firearms skills, athletics, outdoor education or serving as a leader within a youth development/youth athletics program essential. Two years experience working with volunteer groups and leaders, volunteer management and/or supervision highly desirable. Strong shooting sports background with experience teaching firearm safety and basic marksmanship, as well as expert knowledge of firearms and their operation required. Certification as an NRA Coach is required. Salary is budgeted as $55,000 to $65,000KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent oral and written communications skills required. Demonstrated initiative and creativity coupled with strong leadership and organizational skills required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and accomplish multiple tasks within established times. Demonstrated expertise in organizing and conducting education conferences and workshops. Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate and evaluate volunteers. Proven ability to motivate and supervise support staff and outside volunteers. Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with all levels of individuals. Working knowledge of computer software, specifically Microsoft Suite, graphics, spreadsheet and general database functions.
