Sr. Director Data Analysis - Finance Product & Data Solutions

Finance Product and Data Solutions is seeking an experienced leader with a blend of operations, data and analytical experience to join our team to lead our Corporate Planning, Customer Account Profitability, and Modeling and Innovation Team. You should be passionate about innovation, driving continuous improvement and quality as you will own several key processes which support the Global Finance organization and the enterprise Lines of Business. This is a unique opportunity to blend experiences across data, operations and analysis to identify solutions that can change how we work and deliver value to the enterprise.

You will be a key member of the Finance Product and Data Solutions and Finance Tech joint leadership team. You will be expected to own your own areas, but also be a key thought leader for the data and technology solutions that serve your direct business partners - the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Capital Markets organizations. In this role you will gain exposure to the inner workings of the financial ecosystem at Capital One. You will be involved with enabling change originating in every line of business at Capital One and ensuring that we do so with excellence - combining both innovation and well managed outcomes.

You will define and improve processes while collaborating with smart and passionate leaders to influence results that have a direct impact on the organization. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, collaborative partnership, and strong stakeholder management with senior executives are essential to succeeding in this role. This position will be in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment where you will be handling multiple concurrent projects while working independently and in teams. An ideal candidate will possess strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities in addition to communication, interpersonal and leadership skills. Prior experience creating organization roadmaps and driving strategy/program execution.

General responsibilities:

• Execution:  Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently

• Analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytics

• Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: They should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business

• Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. They should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science or a related quantitative field) plus at least 10 years of experience performing data analytics, or currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree plus at least 8 years of experience performing data analytics with an expectation that required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date.

• At least 8 years of experience performing professional data analysis work

• At least 8 years of experience leading and developing with open source data technologies

• At least 6 years of experience managing people

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree

• 10+ years of Professional Data Analysis experience

• 6+ years of Big Data experience (AWS and Spark)

• 6+ years of cloud native (AWS) data processing experience

• 6+ years of Process Management experience

• 6+ years of Project Management experience

• 6+ years of experience with Python

• 6+ years of Data Governance experience

• 3+ years of experience with streaming data technologies (Kafka, Flink, Spark streaming)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $269,600 - $307,700 for Sr. Director, Data Analysis

Richmond, VA: $245,100 - $279,800 for Sr. Director, Data Analysis

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
