Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support elementary school students in the Virginia Beach area. This onsite role requires providing interpreting services within a school setting for children at the elementary level. The assignment starts as soon as possible and extends through June 16, 2026, with the possibility of renewal for the 2026-2027 school year.

Key qualifications include:

• Valid Virginia Quality Assurance Screening (VQAS) Level III certification
• An EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of at least 3.5 as required by the district
• Proven experience interpreting in school environments, preferably with elementary-aged students
• Ability to work full-time (35 hours per week) onsite, with no remote or hybrid options allowed

Responsibilities include:

• Facilitating effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their teachers, peers, and school staff
• Providing clear and accurate interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities in compliance with state and district standards
• Collaborating with educators and specialists to support students academic and social development
• Maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics at all times

Location: Virginia Beach area, onsite only (no remote or hybrid work opportunities)

This contract position is organized under district-supported agreements with assignment confirmation documentation in place. The caseload and specific school assignments will be communicated as they are determined.
