Switchgear Technician 4

Responsibilities

  • Support pre-sales activities by reviewing technical specifications, submittal packages, and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in factory witness testing and coordinate resolution of punch list items with factory teams.
  • Lead installation efforts, including technical discussions, site meetings, and coordination with contractors, vendors, and customers.
  • Advise management on project staffing needs and ensure proper scheduling of field personnel.
  • Coordinate site testing, third-party labor, and test equipment as needed.
  • Identify and report on project scope changes, potential margin impacts, and provide regular status updates to project management.
  • Ensure completion of all required site documentation and obtain final customer acceptance upon project completion.
  • Conduct specialized commissioning and testing of systems, and provide training for customers and field engineers.
  • Respond to service calls and perform preventive maintenance on contracted equipment.
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to support regional projects and site visits.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and product support teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Share lessons learned and best practices with field and factory teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical theory, or a related discipline highly desirable; equivalent work or military experience accepted.
  • Minimum 7 years of field repair or customer service experience with electrical, electro-mechanical, or electronics equipment; at least 3-5 years of experience with mission-critical products.
  • Experience with critical power equipment such as UPS, switchgear, PLCs, batteries, monitoring equipment, and generators.
  • Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer relations skills.
  • Experience in training, technical writing, and preparing reports and procedures.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and motivate team members.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project.
  • Testing experience in accordance with NETA and NICET standards.
  • NETA/NICET Level 2 or 3 certification preferred.
  • Valid state vehicle operator's license required.
  • US Citizenship required.
