Shutdown Pipe Welder (TIG And Stick)
We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder who is proficient in multi-pass, all positions fillet, and butt welds using the SMAW process. The ideal candidate will have the ability to fuse inserts and weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper nickel pipe using both SMAW and GTAW processes. Additionally, the candidate should be capable of mirror welding using these processes and be familiar with heating using an Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch. A strong understanding of OSHA regulations related to the shipbuilding industry is essential.
Responsibilities- Read blueprints and drawings to plan layout and procedures.
- Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
- Set up components for welding according to specifications, such as cutting material with powered saws to match measurements.
- Properly use fillet gauges, butt gauges, and a six-inch scale.
- Pass computer-based training relevant to the role.
- 2-5 years' experience in TIG and STICK pipe welding.
- Three years of experience in welding pipes/metals with various techniques including electric, gas, and arc equipment.
- Ability to pass SMAW 6-inch weld test.
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations in the shipbuilding industry.
- Experience with SMAW and GTAW processes for carbon and stainless steel.
- Capability to work in industrial environments and perform shutdowns.

Work EnvironmentWork on various construction projects in Norfolk and throughout Hampton Roads. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 6 AM to 4 PM, with occasional Saturdays required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Suffolk, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
