Role: Senior SAS Data Analyst

Location: McLean, VA (On-site, 5 days/week)

Work Type: 1099/C2C/W2

Work Authorization: USC, GC, H1B, H4EAD only

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SAS Data Analyst with strong expertise in analyzing legacy SAS scripts, uncovering data lineage, and translating transformation logic into actionable insights. This role requires a seasoned professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and can effectively bridge the gap between business requirements and technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyze and interpret legacy SAS scripts to extract data lineage, business rules, and transformation logic.
  
• Partner with Product Owners and business stakeholders to gather, document, and validate requirements.
  
• Perform SQL-based data analysis to support data profiling, validation, and insights generation.
  
• Summarize and visualize data for clear communication of findings and recommendations.
  
• Conduct pre-demos to showcase findings and validate with stakeholders.
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to ensure alignment of requirements and implementation.
  
• Define and document acceptance criteria for features, supporting full end-to-end testing.
  
• Prepare and maintain clear project documentation, including data dictionaries, process flows, and technical specifications.
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years as a Business/Data Analyst with proven experience in SAS analysis and development.
  
• Strong expertise in SAS programming, SQL querying, and data analysis.
  
• Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments with tools such as Jira and ALM.
  
• Familiarity with APIs and UI testing/validation.
  
• Excellent communication skills – able to simplify complex concepts for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  
• Proven ability to collaborate across teams, drive consensus, and make decisions based on data.
  
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  
• Prior experience in financial services or regulated industries.
  
• Knowledge of modern data platforms and migration projects involving legacy systems.
