International Shipping Clerk

The International Shipping Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring export shipments are processed accurately, compliantly, and on time. This position supports daily warehouse operations while managing the specialized documentation, regulations, and coordination required for international shipments.

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips, documenting any discrepancies or damages.
• Perform accurate visual checks on products prior to shipment to ensure compliance with customer, carrier, and export requirements.
• Prepare and package outbound international shipments using proper materials, crating, and military-grade standards when required.
• Generate all shipping labels and export documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates, airway bills) using internal WMS/ERP systems.
• Utilize WMS and ERP platforms to process orders, update shipment records, and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Assign and verify HTS codes and ensure all export paperwork meets ITAR/EAR and destination-country regulations.
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to schedule pickups, resolve documentation issues, and track shipments through delivery.
• Report and communicate shipment issues such as delays, customs holds, or documentation corrections.
• Assist with inventory counts, cycle audits, and material movement to support warehouse accuracy and readiness.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-compliant shipping and receiving area in alignment with ADS standards.

• 2–4 years of experience in warehouse shipping, with at least 1 year focused on international shipping.
• Working knowledge of export documentation, HTS classification, and Incoterms.
• Familiarity with ITAR/EAR or willingness to complete export compliance training.
• Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers.
• Strong computer skills in WMS/ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
• High attention to detail and accuracy, especially when handling compliance-sensitive shipments.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a warehouse environment.

• Experience with Oracle, Salesforce, SAP, and data entry.
• Proficiency in reading work orders and email communication.
• Knowledge of hazmat handling and international shipping procedures.

Work in a non-climate controlled facility alongside a variety of warehouse workers. The position requires adherence to safety standards, including wearing closed-toed shoes. The regular shift is from 8am-4:30pm, with flexibility to adjust from 7am-5:30pm during busy seasons.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
