Job Details:

• Work in cardiac surgery intensive care unit providing care for post-operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients
• Rotating shifts with several weeks on one schedule then switching
• Weekend coverage required every other weekend
• 36-hour orientation period with assigned modules to be completed during orientation week
• Patient ratios of 1-2 patients with complex cardiac diagnoses including CABGs, valve repairs/replacements, aortic surgeries, VADs, and heart/liver/kidney transplants
• Care for adult and geriatric patients in 14-bed unit with daily census of 13
• Must have CSICU/CVICU experience at Level 1 trauma facility
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS
• Required skills: CRRT, IABP, post-op cardio-thoracic surgery recovery, ECMO, invasive hemodynamic monitoring
• Experience with conscious sedation, pulmonary artery lines, telemetry, and ventilators required
• EPIC charting system experience required with no exceptions
• Must provide oversight for circulatory assist devices including Heartmate II/III LVAD, CentriMag, Heartware HVAD, ECMO, CRRT, and IABP
• Work with specialized equipment including Endtool and NXSTAGE CRRT
• Natural nail policy enforced
• Float within scope if needed
• BSN preferred
• Virginia or compact state license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of experience required

The facility features comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, social services, lift teams, rapid response teams, and pharmacy services. The organization maintains high standards for critical care with state-of-the-art equipment and advanced life support technologies for the most critically ill cardiac patients.
