Lead Bridge Maintenance Technician
Position Overview
Currently seeking full-time skilled Highway Maintenance Technicians to work on the Traveling Bridge Crew to perform advanced maintenance operations in the US, primarily in VA. This crew preferred to be based in the Northern Virginia area and must be able to work during the day shift, mid shift, and night shift. This position requires performing a variety of tasks related to multi-level highway bridge repair maintenance, concrete repair, finger joint maintenance while adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and perform multi-level bridge maintenance and repair, including concrete repair, armor and finger joint repair/replacement, and joint product installation
- Install polymer nosing, asphalt plug, and silicone systems
- Operate hand and power tools and equipment such as saws, jackhammers, sandblasters, welding equipment, air compressors, and hot-pour rubber machines
- Plan and schedule daily work to maximize productivity and meet deadlines
- Train and mentor maintenance technicians on proper methods and safety practices
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and maintain secure job sites
- Complete Daily Work Reports accurately and on time
- Safely operate company vehicles (SUVs and up to ¾-ton pickup trucks)
Additional Duties
- Maintain daily vehicle logs and perform routine inspections
- Participate in safety meetings and required training
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
- Support team operations as needed
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of bridge or highway maintenance experience
- MOT (Traffic control certification/course)
- Strong knowledge of concrete bridge repair, joint systems, and structure repair
- Experience with demolition, concrete forming/repair, and roadway assets (guardrail, signage, drainage)
- Proficient in operating construction and maintenance equipment
- Valid driver’s license (Class A preferred)
- Clean driving record and ability to pass background screening
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly
- Comfortable working at heights, in traffic zones, and in varying weather conditions
- Ability to stand for extended periods and wear PPE at all times
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Basic computer and smartphone proficiency (Microsoft Office preferred)
- Ability to adapt to changing schedules and job conditions
- Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
Schedule
- Full-time
- Day, mid, and night shifts required
- Must be available during weather events (snow, ice, flooding)
