Hyland Heights Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist congregation located in Rustburg, Virginia, approximately five miles from Liberty University, is seeking a full-time Adult Ministries Pastor. The Adult Ministries Pastor is to provide leadership for the Adult Ministries of the church. This position requires administrative, leadership and pastoral abilities, since it oversees and provides support for all ministries, budgets, direction, and volunteer leaders of the ministries to adults. The Adult Ministries Pastor is to work towards fulfilling the HHBC mission and process of making disciples for Christ.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Administration

o Give direction to and oversee Adult Life Groups, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Young Adults, Senior Adults, Adult Discipleship Groups, and HHBC interns and residents.

o Coordinate with the Pastoral Team an ongoing ministry to adults that includes, but is not limited to, connecting, accountability, discipleship and activities that conform to the mission and vision of HHBC.

o Provide accountability and evaluate the effectiveness of the Adult Ministries, and suggest or make changes when and where appropriate.

o Develop a teaching scope and sequence for Adult Ministries as necessary (prepare and/or order materials).

o Oversee budget and expenditures for the Adult Ministries.

o Prepare and submit an annual budget to the Executive Pastor for approval by the Finance Committee.

o Work with the main office staff to coordinate use of church facilities and resources.

Leadership

o Assist in the transition of students from the High School Ministry to the Young Adult Ministry.

o Identify, recruit and develop volunteer leaders for the Adult Ministries.

o Meet regularly with volunteer ministry leaders to help set goals, evaluate strategy, programs and events, and resource them effectively.

o Train leaders to develop their leadership and relational skills.

o Train leaders in the use of curriculum, programming, and ministry goals.

o Oversee the internship and residency program of HHBC.

Pastoral

o Participate in and encourage member care (contacting, visitation, shepherding).

o Communicate with adult ministry leadership for the purpose of follow-up, discipleship, encouragement, etc.

o Provide spiritual nurture and counseling through Biblical instruction, guidance and positive role modeling.

o Fulfill pulpit duties as needed.

o Required to be present during church and ministry services, programs, activities and events
and must maintain regular church office hours during the week for communication and coordination with Church Staff.

o The Adult Ministries Pastor works closely with the Pastoral Team in all areas regarding the church and its functions.

o The Adult Ministries Pastor is a member of the Church’s Leadership Team assisting in developing church-wide goals, expectations and strategies.

o Performs other duties as needed to fulfill the mission of HHBC.

Qualifications:

o Bears witness to a clear testimony of salvation and biblical baptism as evidenced by a spiritually healthy lifestyle.

o Fulfills the biblical qualifications of a pastor as listed in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9.

o Demonstrates a clear pastoral calling and has been ordained by a Southern Baptist Church.

o Demonstrates a Christ-like example in all areas of life, including family leadership.

o Agrees with the HHBC Constitution and By-Laws and signs the Church Membership Covenant.

o Upholds the Staff Values of HHBC.

o Must have a Masters of Divinity or higher.

o Must have five years of paid experience in a related ministry field.

o Must be organized and able to prioritize and meet deadlines.

o Should be creative and energetic, hardworking, have a passion and heartfelt concern for the lost, and possess the ability to motivate others.

o Should be competent in the trends, needs and opportunities of adult ministries.

o Competent in recruiting, training and developing staff and volunteers serving in this ministry.

o Skilled at leading a team to unify in vision, values, achieving goals and evaluation.

o Well developed decision-making skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

o Ability to work efficiently and effectively in team situations, as well as independently.

o Copies or photos of ministerial license, ordination certificate, and degree certificates.
