Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel nursing contract)
• Location: Newport News, VA 23601 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Unit: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
• Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 09/15/2025 – End: 12/15/2025)
• Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (Days: 07:00–19:00, Nights: 19:00–07:00), 3 shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1910 - $1960
• Call Requirement: 1 shift per month
• Charting System: Epic (experience required)
• First-time travel nurses welcome!

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Virginia RN license or compact state RN license
• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, AWHONN Intermediate, NRP
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
• Recent specialty experience within the last year
• Supervisory reference required for submission
• Ability to float to other hospital units as needed

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages
• Monitor patient progress, administer medications, and assist with deliveries in the Labor & Delivery unit
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care
• Accurately document patient care and clinical interventions using Epic
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and provide advanced life support as needed
• Participate in rotating schedules and on-call shifts as required
• Float to other clinical units based on facility needs
