PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
- Location: Richmond, VA 23298 (Virginia nursing jobs)
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070
- Healthcare Setting: Main 11 West Acute Neuroscience Unit (34 beds, including 6 progressive and 15 telemetry patients)
- Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
- Start Date: September 2, 2025
- End Date: December 2, 2025
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shifts: Rotating 12-hour shifts (3x12 per week), days (07:00-19:00) and nights (19:00-07:00); no straight days or nights
- Hours per Week: 36
- Weekend Coverage: Required (every other weekend)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state (30-day work authorization accepted with timely licensure follow-up)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU and telemetry nursing experience; must be an experienced travel nurse
- BLS certification required
- Proficient in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays (2 holidays per contract)
- BSN preferred
- EPIC charting experience preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Ability to float within scope as needed
- 2 professional references required
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with neurological, neurosurgical, ENT, trauma, orthopedic, and general medical/surgical diagnoses
- Monitor and manage telemetry and progressive care patients, including those with stroke, seizures, dementia, neuromuscular disorders, and post-surgical needs
- Provide care for patients with stable ventilators in the PCU
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, radiology, pharmacy, and social services
- Participate in self-scheduling and adapt to rotating shifts
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Float to other hospital units within nursing scope as required
