Job Description
The Red Gate Group is seeking a WMD SME to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) at Fort Belvoir, VA. This position serves as an Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) Project Analyst for the Cooperative Threat Reduction (CTR) contract within the Global Threat Reduction Directorate . The GTR Directorate partners with international allies to prepare, secure, and eliminate weapons of mass destruction (WMD), focusing on rapid contingency response, securing nuclear/radiological/chemical materials, and eliminating weapons and delivery systems.
As a trusted technical advisor , you will provide subject matter expertise in areas such as:
- Chemical unexploded ordnance (UXO) response
- Counter-nuclear smuggling operations
- Physical security of CBRN materials
- Secure transport and disposition of nuclear material
You’ll directly support senior government stakeholders, ensuring projects are strategically aligned, technically sound, and mission-focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical advisor to the Government Project Officer, ensuring project deliverables meet quality and schedule standards.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, training needs analyses, and strategy development for WMD/CBRN-related projects.
- Develop, review, and advise on project documentation including statements of work, cost estimates, source selection criteria, and contractor evaluations.
- Provide inputs for high-visibility deliverables such as Program Objective Memorandum (POM), Annual Reports to Congress, Spend Plans, and metrics reviews .
- Draft and deliver briefings to senior DoD officials; support fact sheets, country summaries, and reporting requirements.
- Advise on sustainment and transition plans to ensure partner nation capacity and self-sufficiency post-project completion.
- Review technical deliverables and coordinate with U.S. Government personnel, contractors, and foreign representatives to ensure mission success.
- Prepare high-quality staff products including analysis papers, action memos, talking points, and briefings to support decision-making.
- Conduct OCONUS travel (~25%) to support project execution, site assessments, partner nation engagements, and training (typically 1–2 weeks per trip).
- Provide hands-on instruction and mentorship , developing courseware and training content for partner nations and clients.
- Support additional WMD security and elimination tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) and 3+ years of relevant experience .
- Experience in programs addressing threats from chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) materials.
- Knowledge of guard force operations, physical security systems, and CBRN detection equipment .
- Ability to analyze information and develop products for senior-level decision-making.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree with 10+ years of related experience.
- Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) qualification .
- Experience with organizations such as:
- Combatant Command staff
- 20th CBRNE Command, Tech Escort, CST, DTRA, State Department CSP, NDT, or CBIRF
- Background as a former military chemical officer or Army 74D/USMC 5711 (CBRN).
- Experience developing and delivering courseware and training content for partner nations.
- Familiarity with project management, acquisition processes, and interagency coordination.
- Experience working with DoD, DOE, US National Labs, and international partners.
- Knowledge of nuclear safety, safeguards, and security (3S) best practices, including IAEA guidance.
- Understanding of U.S. and international industry standards for nuclear/radiological security.
