Step into a rewarding opportunity shaping young minds as a Special Education Teacher for K-5 students in a supportive school environment near Aylett, VA. This contract position runs from August 2026 through June 2027, offering the chance to work full-time, Monday through Friday, with a consistent 40-hour work week.
Qualifications:
- Valid K-12 Virginia Special Education License required
- Previous experience working with elementary-aged special education students is highly desirable
- Strong collaborative skills for working with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Knowledge of best practices in developing and implementing IEPs
- Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom environment
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs tailored to students’ unique needs
- Provide specialized instruction and interventions for students in K-5
- Adapt curriculum and teaching strategies to promote success
- Work closely with families, therapists, and administration to ensure student progress
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings, assessments, and team planning
