Position Overview

Spectra Credit Union is seeking a driven and knowledgeable Mortgage Loan Officer to originate first mortgage loans and guide members through the residential lending process. This role focuses on building external relationships, managing borrower expectations, and delivering exceptional service from application to closing. With a base salary and commission-based structure, this position offers both stability and earning potential for high performers.

Key Responsibilities

• Originate first mortgage loans that meet investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.)
• Develop and maintain relationships with real estate professionals, builders, and other referral sources
• Guide applicants through the mortgage process, providing product recommendations based on financial needs
• Collect and analyze borrower documentation to ensure compliance with investor and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate with internal staff and external service providers to ensure timely closings
• Maintain compliance with all applicable lending laws and regulations, including RESPA, TILA, and the SAFE Act

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma required
• Minimum of 2 years of mortgage origination experience with conforming residential loans
• Valid NMLS registration required
• Strong understanding of Fannie Mae guidelines and mortgage compliance regulations
