Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist
Core Responsibilities
Reception & Front Desk [1]
- Client Relations: Warmly greet clients, check patients in/out, and maintain a welcoming, clean reception area.
- Administrative Tasks: Manage multi-line phones, schedule appointments, and process payments and invoices.
- Communication: Triage calls, relay messages, and provide basic client education regarding vaccines, preventatives, and procedures.
Veterinary Assistant Duties
- Patient Handling: Safely restrain and handle dogs and cats of all sizes during physical exams and procedures.
- Clinical Prep: Obtain patient history, record vital signs, and prepare/sterilize exam rooms and medical equipment.
- Treatment Support: Assist veterinarians and technicians with treatments and follow state-specific delegation guidelines for patient care.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Experience: Prior veterinary, medical, or strong customer service experience is preferred, though on-the-job training is often provided.
- Skills: Must be comfortable handling animals, able to multitask in a busy clinic, and possess a highly empathetic, professional demeanor.
- Software: Familiarity with the veterinary practice management software Avimark is a strong plus.
