A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PORTER

As an Assistant Maintenance Technician, you are a team player dedicated to keeping our apartment communities looking good and operating effectively. Because you are a jack of all trades, you are ready for any task that comes your way. You work with other maintenance staff to learn and practice a wide range of tasks involved with general home maintenance. From maintaining and repairing appliances, plumbing, minor HVAC issues, and electrical work to painting, caring for the grounds, and pool maintenance, you are ready to get to work.

You quickly respond to maintenance requests and become an expert at prioritizing and adapting. As you complete each task, you always provide exceptional customer service and communication to make sure your colleagues are in the loop. Walking around the building, you check exterior and interior areas for safety, cleanliness, and needed repairs. You also prepare apartment units for re-leasing which involves cleaning and painting. Each day brings a combination of daily checklists, occasional tasks, and unexpected surprises. You love that you are never bored on the job!

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift and carry 50lbs
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions
• Ability to climb a 24-foot ladder to perform tasks
• Prolonged periods standing and walking
• Must be physically able to climb, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces to perform tasks

QUALIFICATIONS

• Reliable transportation
• 1 year of experience in facilities maintenance, housekeeping, groundskeeping, specialized construction trades, or related work or educational experience

WORK SCHEDULE

Regular schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
