What Your Role Entails

• Performing comprehensive assessments of patients, ordering necessary diagnostic tests, and developing tailored care plans
• Diagnosing and managing acute, chronic, or episodic health issues, either autonomously or in collaboration with physicians, depending on your credentials
• Informing patients and their families on health maintenance, preventive care, and chronic disease management
• Prescribing medications and therapies permitted by your scope of practice
• Overseeing patient follow-ups and ongoing chronic care management
• Working closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide seamless, comprehensive care
• Maintaining accurate and thorough documentation within electronic medical records (EMR)

Education Requirements

• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)
• Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Required Certifications

• Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in Virginia
• National certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C, AANP, or ANCC) or an equivalent specialty
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications (or ability to obtain them within 90 days)
