Salary : $400-500k + significant equity

We are working with an exciting start-up in the Gen AI space that has recently closed a landmark Series A funding round. Backed by leading investors and a founding team with a history of industry disruption, the company aims to revolutionize the creative landscape and unlock human potential through advanced generative AI.

Are you a distinguished researcher and inspiring leader with deep expertise in foundation models and their transformative potential? Do you have strategic foresight to guide cutting-edge research and build a world-class team? We are seeking a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to lead our innovative initiatives.

In this key leadership role, you will define the technical vision and strategic roadmap for our foundation model research, directly influencing the capabilities of our generative AI products.

Your leadership will focus on:

• Developing and communicating a long-term scientific strategy, identifying research opportunities, emerging trends, and competitive advantages in generative AI.
• Building and leading a high-performing research team, fostering innovation, experimentation, and collaboration across scientific domains.
• Overseeing research initiatives in large language models, multi-modal generation, controllable generation, alignment, and ethical AI, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of the field.
• Collaborating with product, engineering, and business teams to translate research breakthroughs into scalable AI solutions that drive market adoption.
• Representing the company at AI conferences, engaging with academia, and influencing the broader AI ecosystem.
• Managing research budgets, resource allocation, research operations, and contributing to IP and patent strategies.

Ideal candidate profile:

• PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or related field.
• Over 10 years of progressive AI/ML research and development experience, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles such as Head of Research, VP of AI, or CSO.
• Deep expertise in large language models, multi-modal models, attention mechanisms, diffusion models, and distributed training techniques.
• Proven ability to architect and guide large-scale AI systems.
• Track record of building and scaling research organizations, driving innovation, and translating scientific breakthroughs into real-world applications or publications.
• Outstanding publication record in top AI/ML conferences and journals, with a strong professional network in the generative AI community.

Preferred skills:

• Experience with MLOps practices for deploying large-scale AI models.
• Proficiency in cloud-native AI infrastructure and distributed computing.
• Experience in establishing AI ethics and safety research programs.
