Staff Accountant
Location: Alexandria, VA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
We are seeking a Staff Accountant with Government Contracting experience to join an organization in Alexandria, VA. This role is responsible for the full month-end close process, project accounting, customer invoicing, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with federal contract requirements. Experience with Unanet and/or Deltek is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Manage project setup, funding, billing, and customer invoicing in Unanet
- Support Cost Plus, Fixed Price, and Time & Materials (T&M) contracts
- Prepare project profitability and variance analyses
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA requirements
- Support DCAA, GSA, and financial audits
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate revenue recognition
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 3–5 years of government contracting accounting experience
- Hands-on experience with Unanet (required)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, CAS, and DCAA compliance
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIF)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance
