Managed by SMI Hotel Group, a growing hotel management company with upscale, full-service hotels in Virginia and Texas, the Delta Hotels by Marriott Richmond Downtown is recruiting for an experienced, motivated and dynamic Sales Manager. Located in the heart of Richmond's financial district, along the banks of the James River, guests can choose to stay in and enjoy the comfort and style of our casual restaurant and bar, energize in our extensive fitness facilities, or have an adventure of mountain biking or kayaking just steps from our door. Richmond was named the “Best River Town in America” by Outdoor Magazine, and Delta Hotels by Marriott Richmond Downtown is the most convenient hotel to some of the best urban river recreation in the country. Shopping, dining, night life, as well as historic Shockoe Slip and Shockoe Bottom are just blocks away, as are the headquarters of some of Richmond’s most prestigious companies. The property features over 13,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, accommodating groups from 5- 500.
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for generating new business and maintaining existing clients/Market Specific accounts. Uses sales skills to drive revenue, maximize profit and ensure quality. Effective management skills to ensure achievement of overall financial results, guest satisfaction and positive employee relations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sales: Accountable for achieving business revenue goals and established Personal Performance Expectations and activity goals. Solicit and prospect new and existing accounts while developing and maintaining excellent client relationships. Responsible for selling/coordinating/detailing guestrooms, meeting space and food and beverage service at Four Points by Sheraton Richmond hotel.
- Revenue Maximization: Responsible for effectively managing revenue by utilizing market industry data and knowledge to secure appropriate business to maximize hotel profitability.
- People Management: Motivates staff by setting goals, providing ongoing feedback and rewarding/recognizing employees for jobs well done.
- Technical Acumen: Responsible for utilizing sales tools/systems to accurately identify, report, forecast and communicate sales data. Ensures integrity of sales data by documenting information in Delphi on a daily basis. Utilizes sales tools such as STAR® report, reader boards and other market intelligence to drive business.
- Guest Service: Responsible for client satisfaction by ensuring the clients’ needs and concerns are responded to in a courteous and timely manner. Ensures effective communication of client needs from sales to appropriate operational departments. Provides follow-up calls and correspondence to clients to encourage repeat business/customer referrals.
- Self/Workload Management: Responsible for effective self/workload management. Demonstrates clear written and verbal communication skills. Promotes collaboration and positive, professional work environment. Attends all daily, weekly and/or monthly department/hotel meetings to ensure proper communication/planning occurs. Must be flexible in work schedule as needed.
Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 2-3 years of Hotel Sales Manager experience, preferably in a full-service hotel. Must be detail oriented, have ability to communicate well with all levels within and outside the organization, and be able to problem-solve with employees and guests.
