Job Summary
The Software Developer – Journeyman Level (ServiceNow Platform) designs and develops custom solutions on the ServiceNow platform to support enterprise workflows for the Army National Guard (ARNG). This role builds scripted components, develops custom applications, configures platform elements, and performs unit testing and code reviews to ensure high‑quality implementations. The developer operates with significant independence, contributing to solution design, development methodology, and problem‑solving approaches while supporting the continuous enhancement of the ARNG ServiceNow environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop custom applications, workflows, and UI components on the ServiceNow platform.
• Build scripted solutions using Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, and Flow Designer.
• Configure forms, lists, notifications, and other platform components to meet functional requirements.
• Execute unit testing, code reviews, and troubleshooting for all development deliverables.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation for scripts, integrations, and application components.
• Collaborate with platform administrators, process owners, and stakeholders to refine requirements.
• Operate with independent judgment in solution design, development methods, and issue resolution.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of enterprise IT experience with hands-on software development responsibilities.
• Proficiency in ServiceNow development using JavaScript, Flow Designer, and platform scripting tools.
• Experience developing custom apps and automations within the ServiceNow ITSM/ITOM ecosystem.
• Ability to configure UI elements, notifications, forms, and platform records.
• Experience with unit testing, debugging, and code review processes.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and documentation best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Required Certifications: CSA and CAD.

Preferred Qualifications

• ServiceNow CIS‑ITSM certification.
• Experience with REST API integrations or platform automation.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and DoD development standards.
• Familiarity with Git or similar version control systems.
• Understanding of enterprise workflows, ITSM processes, and large-scale ServiceNow deployments.
