HVAC Service Technican

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of HVAC equipment, including air and water-cooled chillers, boilers, unit heaters, electric duct heaters, cooling towers, and air distribution systems.
• Operate, maintain, and upgrade building automation software and controls, including pneumatic, DDC, and variable frequency drive systems.
• Monitor compliance with contractual commitments and ensure all work meets quality and safety standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced technicians, supporting their professional development.
• Respond to routine and emergency service calls, including participation in on-call rotations as required.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and equipment status.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support the overall operation of the facility.
• Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a basic air conditioning theory class.
• Minimum of 7 years of large commercial HVAC service experience required; 8 years preferred.
• Proficiency in the use of HVAC diagnostic tools and instruments.
• Experience with DDC, pneumatic, and variable frequency drive controls.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office or related software.
• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification preferred.
• Virginia Journeyman HVAC license preferred.
• OSHA certification preferred.
• Valid Virginia or Maryland driver’s license required.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain security clearance preferred.
