Primary Assistant Toddler Teacher
Summary Ascension Episcopal Day School is accepting applications for a fulltime Assistant Teacher. Pay is $15 per hour with some benefits. Hours 7:45-4:45pm .
Ascension Day School serves children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years. Our program is designed to cultivate the cognitive, social, physical, creative, spiritual, and emotional development of each child in a caring educational environment . The Assistant Toddler Teacher will be responsible for helping the Lead Teacher develop and maintain a nurturing and creative community for 12 students ages 12-26 months. We are an early education center not a day care and we have high expectations for quality interactions between teachers and students. Duties MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating classroom environment.
- Assist in the implementation of curriculum conducive to the cognitive, physical, social, creative, spiritual and emotional development of young children.
- Actively engage students in activities and explorations that encourage curiosity, creativity, movement, and problem-solving appropriate to their development levels.
- Model developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques.
- Assist in the maintenance of attendance and childcare records for the classroom.
- Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating information on a continuous basis and attending staff meetings.
- Participate in staff development opportunities and maintain knowledge of current child development practices.
- Consistently maintain open and friendly relationships with each child's family.
- Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
- Assist with school health practices including cleaning/sterilizing the classroom throughout the day and basic childcare routines such as diapering, cleaning noses, and washing hands.
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
- One year of experience in an early education center.
- Some college-level courses in early education or a related field.
- Early education training including knowledge of early education teaching methods and child development theory.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work with diverse populations.
