The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a qualified professional to help manage the water distribution and sanitary sewer conveyance and treatment systems in our Department of Public Utilities. As the Assistant Director of Public Utilities, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the essential operations of our city’s Utilities Department through: Strategic and Operational Planning

| Supervision and Compliance Oversight of the Utilities Department’s daily operations and - ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards. | Reporting

Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science or other relevant field.
- Six to nine years of progressive responsible experience in public utilities operations and administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Must possess a valid Virginia state driver’s license. (or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of appointment.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of appointment.)
Optional
- VDEQ Waterworks and Wastewater Works Operators Licenses
- Project Management Professional certification
