Van Driver

Summary

Beulah Duke Learning Academy (BDLA), located within Chesapeake Christian Center, is seeking a safe, reliable, and responsible Van Driver to transport children to and from local schools and the academy.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children during transportation. The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive, and committed to maintaining a safe and positive environment while supporting our mission of “Learning Through Excellence” in a faith-based setting.

Duties

Safely transport children to and from local schools and the academy.
Ensure all children are properly supervised at all times during transportation.
Conduct daily vehicle safety checks (pre-trip and post-trip inspections).
Maintain accurate attendance and transportation logs.
Ensure children are properly loaded and unloaded following safety procedures.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle.
Follow all state licensing regulations and traffic laws.
Communicate effectively with staff regarding schedules, delays, or concerns.
Report any incidents, accidents, or concerns immediately to administration.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Ability to pass a full background check and driving record check.
Must pass required health screening (including TB test if applicable).
Ability to react quickly and appropriately in emergency situations.
Ability to ensure the safety, supervision, and appropriate behavior of children during transport.

Nice To Haves

CPR/First Aid certification.
Previous experience working in a childcare or school setting.
Knowledge of childcare licensing trCPR/First Aid certification.

Ability to safely lift up to 40 lbs as needed.
Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a vehicle.
Ability to assist children on and off the vehicle safely.
