Picture your shift: you study a drawing and its CAD/CAM files, plan workholding, build a fixture, and then move seamlessly between a manual mill, a CNC machining center, and the inspection bench. You write or edit G- and M-code, dial in tools, set feeds and speeds, and hold tight tolerances so dies, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges come together exactly to spec. Thats the craft you19ll practice here.

What you19ll take on

• Work safely every time, following Amsted Rail19s health, safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings alongside CAD/CAM data and G- and M-code.
• Apply working knowledge of GD&T to plan setups, verify features, and meet tolerances.
• Set up, operate, monitor, and tear down manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, etc.).
• Set up, program, operate, monitor, and tear down CNC equipment.
• Troubleshoot and improve quality by adjusting tools, offsets, coordinates, and programs.
• Align, secure, and adjust cutting tools and workpieces; build custom fixtures as needed.
• Establish and monitor appropriate feeds and speeds for each operation.
• Turn, mill, drill, shape, and grind to print, maintaining required tolerances.
• Inspect with gauges and precision measuring instruments; identify and correct defects.
• Deburr and finish surfaces to specification.
• Present finished pieces to internal customers and incorporate requested modifications.
• Pitch in with other duties as assigned.

What you19ll bring

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Completion of a Machinist Apprenticeship or equivalent years of machinist experience.
• Capability to lift, push, and pull 10 150 lbs and to stand and move throughout the shift.
• Commitment to wear company-provided PPE.
• Mechanical aptitude; prior industrial experience is a plus.
