Art Therapist (Part-Time)

Location: Northern Virginia (Vienna, Fairfax Station, Great Falls, Annandale)
Schedule: Flexible, approximately 9 hours per week
Travel: Required between local facility sites

AMFM Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and credentialed Art Therapist to join our clinical team. The Art Therapist will lead expressive therapy groups that help clients process emotions, develop insight, and improve their mental health through creative, client-centered approaches. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of individuals struggling with complex mental health challenges.

• Facilitate dynamic and therapeutic art-based group sessions using trauma-informed and evidence-based practices

• Adapt creative interventions to meet the diverse needs of clients with mood disorders, trauma histories, and co-occurring conditions

• Collaborate with the clinical team to support treatment planning and progress tracking

• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in accordance with agency standards and regulatory guidelines

• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and collaborative treatment planning sessions

• Adhere to ethical standards, including mandatory reporting and confidentiality policies

• Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, VA DSS, and other relevant regulatory bodies

Required:

• Registered Art Therapist (ATR or ATR-BC)

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in related field.

• Experience working with individuals with acute psychiatric conditions and co-occurring disorders

• Strong interpersonal, creative, and communication skills

• Willingness and ability to travel between facility locations

• Reliable transportation

• Ability to pass background checks required by DBHDS, VDSS, and ADP Selective Services

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Art Therapy or related field

• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)

• Knowledge of billing practices and regulatory compliance in a mental health setting

• Previous experience in residential or intensive treatment environments
