What Youll Be Doing

• Lead geotechnical field investigations and materials testing at active construction sites
• Coordinate drilling, sampling, and inspection activities, documenting findings with precision
• Oversee and train junior technicians, promoting field safety, efficiency, and accuracy
• Interpret blueprints and specifications to assess compliance and ensure construction quality
• Collaborate with contractors, engineers, and clients to keep field operations running smoothly
• Maintain accurate records in alignment with VDOT and industry standards
• Conduct field testing on soils, asphalt, and concrete to support quality control requirements

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• 35 years of hands-on geotechnical or construction materials testing experience
• ACI, NICET, and VDOT field certifications
• Valid drivers license and dependable transportation
• Physically able to lift and operate testing equipment (6080 lbs.)
• Strong communication and leadership capabilities

Preferred Qualifications:

• EIT certification or PE license (or working toward licensure)
• Comfort using field reporting software and mobile tech tools
• Previous experience with DOT, municipal, or large commercial projects
