Today, we’re a mission-driven nonprofit with over 100 employees working to prevent and end homelessness and domestic violence. About the Role
As the Director of People & Culture, you’ll be a strategic partner to Shelter House’s leadership team. You’ll guide people practices that align with our mission and values, while leading a broad scope of HR functions, from compliance and benefits to talent development and culture-building. Strategy & Leadership

• Advise the CEO and senior leaders on people strategy, organizational design, compliance, and workforce planning.

Operations & Compliance

• Lead the People & Culture team in managing employee relations, performance reviews, payroll, benefits, and HR compliance.

Talent Management & Development

• Oversee recruitment, onboarding, performance management, internal mobility, succession planning, and training initiatives.

Culture & Engagement

• Champion a people-first culture by enhancing employee engagement, wellness, and connection across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of broad HR experience, including 5+ years in a supervisory role
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Psychology, or related field
• PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred
• Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Excellent communication and listening skills
• High integrity and discretion with sensitive information
• Collaborative, self-motivated, and solutions-oriented

Physical Requirements

• Annual TB test required
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods
• Ability to lift 10–20 pounds

Salary Range

• The anticipated salary range for this position is $105,000 - $115,000.
