POSITION OVERVIEW:
Role: Jockey Driver (Hostler / Ground Person).
Location: Norfolk Southern Portlock Terminal – Norfolk, VA.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

- Operate a jockey truck to move 53-foot trailers, containers, and chassis within the rail yard.
- Perform ground duties such as climbing railcars, operating track locks, and handling Inner Box Connectors (IBCs).
- Assist with loading and unloading equipment by working alongside operators and using hand signals.
- Participate in stacking and unstacking chassis and organizing racks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations.
SCHEDULE:
- Start time: 5:00 AM daily.
- Hours: Work continues until the job is complete.
- Typical shifts range from 8 to 12 hours per day.
- Overtime is common and increases earning potential.
PAY AND ADVANCEMENT:
- Starting Pay: $21.00 per hour.
- Annual Raises: Employees are eligible for a 5% pay increase each year on the anniversary of the union contract dated January 23rd through 2030.
- Strong opportunity to increase earnings over time through raises and overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to pass a 7-year background check.
- Must pass a drug test and physical strength test.
- Must live within 45 minutes of Norfolk, VA (no relocation assistance available).
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
You will be employed directly by Pacific Rail Services , not Norfolk Southern Railroad.
