Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for overseeing the flow of materials and products in and out of the warehouse. This role ensures that shipments are processed efficiently, inventory is accurately tracked, and goods are properly received and distributed to their respective locations. The clerk will collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and carriers to ensure all shipping and receiving processes are completed in a timely and organized manner.
Key Responsibilities:
· Shipping:
· Prepare and package outgoing shipments according to company and customer specifications.
· Label packages and prepare required shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, and customs forms.
· Schedule and coordinate shipments with carriers to ensure timely delivery.
· Ensure shipments are properly tracked and update the system with relevant shipping information.
· Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to outgoing shipments.
· Deliver orders as needed.
· Receiving:
· Receive and inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies.
· Verify quantities and product types against purchase orders and packing lists.
· Record incoming shipments in the inventory system and update stock levels.
· Notify the appropriate team members or departments of any damaged goods or discrepancies.
· Unload, sort, and organize incoming shipments in the designated areas.
· Inventory Management:
· Maintain accurate records of inventory levels and assist in regular inventory counts.
· Organize and store products in appropriate locations within the warehouse.
· Assist in the preparation of inventory reports.
· Documentation & Compliance:
· Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in the warehouse.
· Maintain and file all shipping and receiving documentation for future reference.
· Assist in the preparation and review of reports for inventory and shipping accuracy.
· Communication & Collaboration:
· Communicate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
· Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to shipping and receiving inquiries.
Qualifications & Skills:
· High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
· Proven experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations (preferred).
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
· Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Excel
· Good written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to lift heavy packages up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks as needed.
· Familiarity with inventory management practices and safety regulations is a plus.
· Ability to safely operate forklifts of different sizes.
· Driver’s license and good driving record is required.
