Job Duties

  • Successful candidate will provide subject matter expertise (SME) in Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, and Multinational (JIIM) operating environment and curriculum development expertise in support of the Joint Knowledge Online (JKO) Senior Enlisted Joint Professional Military Education (SEJPME) Program efforts by reviewing and revising, and developing relevant course curriculum material, and joint education course reference materials, presented via the internet. Employee will draw from a wide range of sources, including national security strategy, Secretary of the Department, and the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff policy, joint doctrine, service missions, joint lessons learned, and other sources to develop a distance education course curriculum. Specific job tasks include:
  • Independently conducts regular review and maintenance of curriculum to ensure content and materials are accurate, current/up-to-date, and provide appropriate level of detail; recommend improvements to the program to the Government;
  • Independently conducts research utilizing internet tools on joint doctrine, joint publications, and other relevant curriculum reference material related to joint staff action officer performance in a JIIM operating environment, and student joint learning objectives (JLOs);
  • Independently edit, review, and provide accurate feedback on curriculum materials (e.g. storyboards etc.) produced by other team members;
  • Conducts regular needs analysis to identify student performance and learning gaps and ensure learning solutions support the development of appropriate joint learning objectives;
  • Leads teams, partners with, and maintains strong relationships with other joint staff/combatant command/Service/multinational subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders to review and revise material and incorporate feedback, as necessary;
  • Represents the education program as a stakeholder on project teams, as required;
  • Produces reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders on the cross-walk/linkage of desired leader attributes (DLAs), joint learning areas (JLAs), joint learning objectives (JLOs) with curriculum content and student assessment;
  • Assists with education program evaluation (student achievement and program effectiveness), as required;
  • Attend required scheduled meetings, briefings, and conferences (e.g., JECC, EMERC, Joint Staff, JS J7 JD, etc.).

Requirements

  • Joint, Interagency, Intergovernmental, and Multinational (JIIM) work and operations environment knowledge and experience (currency and depth & breadth of knowledge).
  • Up-to-date knowledge of joint doctrine, joint matters, joint publications, joint operations planning, joint staff action officer duties, ethical military decision making, and senior military leadership in a JIIM environment
  • Experience teaching adult learners.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent follow-up and organizational skills. Military leadership skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge and/or proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Assets (Competencies/Additional Skills)

  • Understanding of Learning Management Systems (LMS), especially the JKO LCMS.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Joint Staff Enlisted Professional Military Education Policy.

Educational Requirements

  • Current experience operating and training in the JIIM environment may be counted as a substitute for education based upon the depth and breath of the experience.

Clearance

  • Secret security clearance required

Travel

  • Occasional travel throughout U.S. and overseas may be required
