• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (travel nursing contract)
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 52 weeks)
• Shift: 3x12-hour days (06:45 – 19:15); 4x12 available by request
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680 - $1730
• Patient Population: Adults
• Unit Size: 12 beds
• Patient Ratio: 1:2

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (neuro ICU preferred)
• Experience in a large Level I or Level II trauma healthcare facility
• Prior neuro ICU experience required
• Epic charting system proficiency
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Willingness to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 during winter holidays)
• Travel nurses must live at least 100 miles from the facility (exceptions may apply)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide expert nursing care to neuro ICU patients with conditions such as stroke, neurosurgery, complex spine, and neuro-specific complications
• Monitor and manage patients requiring special procedures, including EVDs and therapeutic hypothermia
• Perform advanced ICU procedures: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, ventilator management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and administer emergency medications
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Uphold infection prevention and isolation protocols
• Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training
