Neuro ICU Nursing Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel nursing contract)
• Location: Roanoke, Virginia 24014
• Unit: 7S NCC ICU (Neuro Critical Care Unit)
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: March 9, 2026
• Duration: 26 weeks (13-week and 52-week assignments available)
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (06:45 - 19:15); 4x12 available by request
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1680-$1730
• Patient Ratio: 1:2 (adult patient population)
• Number of Beds: 12-bed Neuro ICU
• Weekend Coverage: Required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU experience preferred)
• Experience working in large Level I/II healthcare facilities
• Proficiency with Epic EMR charting system
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week assignment (2 holidays for winter assignments)
• Travel nurses must reside at least 100 miles from the facility (exceptions for 50-99.9 miles for one 13-week contract)

Neuro ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with neuro-specific diagnoses such as stroke, neurosurgery, complex spine, and related complications
• Monitor and manage patients requiring specialized procedures (EVDs, therapeutic hypothermia/thermoregulation)
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips; manage ventilated patients and post-craniotomy cases
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and manage central lines, arterial lines, and lumbar drains
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Maintain accurate documentation using Epic EMR
• Follow infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions
• Participate in orientation and complete required training modules
