DARPA Financial Analyst (Tech Office)

MDW is seeking a highly qualified Financial Analyst to provide support to the Technical/Support Offices for our Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) client. DARPA's mission is to maintain the technological superiority of the U.S. military and prevent technological surprise from harming our national security by sponsoring revolutionary, high payoff research that bridges the gap between fundamental discoveries and their military use. MDW's specific client, the DARPA Comptroller, is the nucleus of "corporate" fiscal activities. Your mission is to provides day-to-day support and assistance to the specific offices for fiscal, budgetary, procurement and administrative matters. Duties vary from office to office, but the general responsibilities are similar in nature.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily direct support to the ADPM within various offices. Areas of responsibilities are budgetary and administrative in nature. Primary duties include: review, analysis and creation of funding documents; tracking of internal and external documents; direct interaction with executing Agents to ensure document processing; updates to and maintenance of financial systems; preparation of ad hoc reports, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, narrative; maintenance of office travel; and special projects and other budgetary and administrative related functions as required.
  • The contractor shall accurately create and/or review procurement requisition packages in accordance with business practices. Analyze dormant funding documents regarding commitments, obligations and expenditures; work with internal DARPA financial staff and external agents to validate the continued need of funding. Compile financial execution information from available systems and provide weekly metrics and status updates.
  • Provide financial help desk assistance to the technical offices for fiscal, budgetary, and procurement matters. Tasks range from providing Comptroller guidance for financial questions or assist the technical office contractors or government personnel troubleshoot budgetary, execution, or financial system related issues. While assisting to resolve financial issues or answer questions, tasks include but not limited to providing Comptroller guidance, directing to correct Points of contact, or providing past experience or examples that resolved similar issues.

Required Experience:

  • The candidate shall have a minimum of five (5) years of general experience in: training and mentoring; analyzing and evaluating complex textual and/or quantitative information in order to make comparisons among alternatives or to make recommendations for corrections or improvements in process, operations, or policies; experience with automated systems to include database maintenance and reporting; the ability to extract and report reliable data; sound oral and written communications skills; experience communicating with various levels of personnel; and ability to anticipate, project, and plan accordingly.
  • The candidate shall have three (3) years of specialized experience in: management experience in similar services; knowledge of accounting principles and DoD financial policies and directives; the ability to analyze and prepare financial documents in compliance with the DoD Financial Management Regulation (FMR); and ability to identify and resolve complex problems.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Defense Agency Initiative (DAI)

  • Education: BA/BS degree
