General Utility Worker - Univ. of Virginia-Observatory
UVA Dine is seeking reliable and hardworking General Utility Workers to support food service operations at Observatory Hill Dining Room on the University of Virginia grounds. The General Utility Worker will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining environment, assisting with food preparation, and providing support to kitchen and dining staff.
- Location: University of Virginia - Observatory Hill - 525 McCormick Rd, Charlottesville, VA 22904
- Start Date: August 13, 2025
- Hourly Pay Rate: $16
- Schedule Needed: Flexibility desired with ability to work on weekends and late night

Job Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas, including floors, surfaces, equipment, and utensils.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables.
- Transport food items, supplies, and equipment within the dining facility.
- Operate dishwashing equipment to clean dishes, utensils, and cookware.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and dispose of waste properly.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down dining areas for meal service and special events.
- Clean and sanitize food storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers.
- Receive and store deliveries of food and supplies.
- Assist with bussing tables and cleaning dining areas during meal service.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the dining facility.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including proper handling, storage, and labeling of food and chemicals.
- Adhere to all university and dining services policies and procedures.
