About the Role:
The Assistant Director of Domestic Violence & Supportive Housing (DVSH) is responsible for leading a team in providing community-based homelessness prevention and rapid-rehousing services to victims of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. This position leads collaborative efforts between DVSH and Artemis House Emergency Domestic and Sexual Violence Shelter programs to coordinate the timely and appropriate referral and intake of domestic and sexual violence victims at risk of homelessness. The Assistant Director of DVSH works with the Director of DVSH to accomplish program goals and priorities in accordance with agency philosophy and values and grant requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direct supervision to 3 Senior Case Managers; provide coaching and support through regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings and evaluations; coordinate training and development for direct reports
- Support staff in implementing a trauma-informed and program participant-driven approach and delivering complex case management for cases that demand higher level solutions
- Collaborate with the Director of Domestic Violence & Supportive Housing to ensure homelessness prevention and rapid-rehousing services are implemented in accordance with agency philosophy, best practice, grant and contract requirements and all applicable federal, state and local regulations
- Collaborate with the Director of Domestic Violence & Supportive Housing and community partners to announce program vacancies, coordinate and accept referrals meeting eligibility criteria, and assign cases accordingly
- Assist the Director of Domestic Violence & Supportive Housing in creating and maintaining a professional trauma-informed environment which supports team building, self-directed work teams, and a learning organization
- Provide support as needed to facilitate the program participant appeals process related to discharge and appeals
- Maintain positive working relationships with landlords involved in all programs; Proactively and creatively seek new housing opportunities and resources to assist program participants in finding permanent housing
- Collaborate with the Director of Domestic Violence & Supportive Housing to develop partnerships with community members and professionals that increase awareness around the availability, impact, and need for domestic and sexual violence-related homelessness prevention services
- Communicate and establish working relationships with community partners, landlords, and volunteers to act as an advocate on behalf of victims of domestic violence and persons experiencing homelessness and/or individual program participants when necessary
- Oversee individual program budgets, to include coordinating the provision of rental and direct assistance to program participants and tracking all payments provided
- Manage the overall input and accuracy of data stored in the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), VADATA, and other program participant databases to prepare statistical reports
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and issues impacting homelessness and domestic violence services
- Verify and approve staff timesheets, leave requests, check requests, and mileage reimbursements
- Participate in staff meetings and trainings as directed by supervisor
- Proficiently operate a personal computer, fax, printer, copier and Microsoft Office products (email, calendar, drive, etc.).

Requirements
Required:
- A bachelor’s degree in social work/human services/related field or commensurate experience
- 3+ years of program and staff management
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to prioritize competing priorities and make sound judgements
- Ability to complete tasks while navigating frequent interruptions
- Ability to deliver creative, resourceful solutions to unique challenges
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation/ 10-15% local travel for appointments
- Ability to drive a minivan
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed
Preferred:
- A master’s degree in human services/related field
- Experience leading/supporting programs serving victims of domestic violence
Physical Requirements:
- Annual TB Test is required
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to lift items weighing 10-20 pounds
