Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000

Work Schedule: M-F 9-5

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a Project Accountant to join their growing team. This position will be responsible for supporting project-based accounting functions, job cost tracking, billing, reporting, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in project accounting within a construction or contract-based environment and be comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. This is a strong opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to partner closely with operations and accounting leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

• Tracking and monitoring project costs including labor, materials, subcontractors, and other job-related expenses
• Maintaining job cost reports and analyzing budget-to-actual performance
• Partnering with project managers to review project financial results and identify variances
• Preparing and processing progress billings in accordance with contract terms
• Supporting percentage-of-completion billing and revenue recognition calculations
• Tracking and reconciling billings, including overbillings and underbillings
• Preparing and maintaining work-in-progress schedules
• Assisting with month-end close activities including accruals, journal entries, and account reconciliations
• Reconciling project subledgers to the general ledger
• Supporting certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage compliance requirements
• Reviewing and coding invoices to the appropriate jobs and cost codes
• Assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and audit support as needed
• Maintaining accurate documentation for internal controls, audits, and compliance reviews

Qualified candidates will have:

• 3+ years of project accounting experience
• Experience with job costing in a construction, contractor, or project-based environment
• Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion billing, WIP schedules, and progress billing
• Familiarity with certified payroll and compliance-related reporting
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• ERP experience required; experience with construction-related accounting systems is a plus
• Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally with accounting and operations teams
