Junior Software Engineer - Web Applications (Active Secret Clearance Required)

Location: Northern Virginia (Hybrid / Onsite as Required)

Clearance: Active DoD Secret (Required)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer with 1-3 years of experience to support and troubleshoot mission-critical web applications in a secure, government environment. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer who is eager to learn, enjoys solving complex problems, and wants to be challenged in a collaborative, fast-paced technical setting.

In this role, you will work alongside experienced engineers to support production web applications, investigate application issues, assist with root-cause analysis, and help automate solutions that improve system reliability and performance. This is not a hardware or lab-based role-the focus is on software, automation, and application-level troubleshooting.

An active Secret clearance is required to support classified systems.

?Key Responsibilities

• Support and troubleshoot production web applications in a secure environment

• Assist with incident response, issue triage, and root-cause analysis

• Analyze logs, metrics, and application behavior to identify and resolve issues

• Use Python-based scripting and Ansible automation to reduce manual effort and improve system stability

• Collaborate with software, platform, and systems engineers to implement fixes and enhancements

• Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to reliability, performance, and automation

• Document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, and lessons learned

Required Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret clearance

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)

• 1-3 years of experience in a software, systems, or application support role

• Experience troubleshooting web applications or software-based systems

• Hands-on experience with Python (scripting or development)

• Exposure to Ansible or similar automation/configuration tools

• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

• Ability to work in a classified environment and follow security requirements

This is a Contract position based out of Reston, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $114400.00/hr.
