DevOps Engineer

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Tooling Team is part of the DevOps organization and supports scalable, secure CI/CD and platform tooling across Alarm.com engineering teams. We are seeking a mid-level AI‑Driven Build & Release Engineer (3–5 years experience) who is automation-first and AI-enabled. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and cloud-based deployment frameworks across the full software lifecycle. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality Engineering, Operations, and Release Management to modernize build and release workflows, reduce operational toil, and improve reliability, performance, and developer productivity. A strong emphasis is placed on automation, Terraform, programming expertise, and practical use of AI tools to enhance engineering efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks


• Build and manage infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices


• Automate provisioning, configuration, deployments, and operational workflows


• Manage build and release environments (VMs, containers, and cloud resources)


• Apply GitOps principles to improve deployment consistency and reliability


• Leverage AI-powered tools to enhance scripting, code quality, troubleshooting, documentation, and operational efficiency


• Use AI-assisted analysis to accelerate root cause investigation and reduce incident resolution time


• Monitor and maintain system performance, scalability, availability, and security


• Troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure issues, and deployment failures


• Support daily build and release operations and participate in on-call rotations


• Lead or contribute to small-to-mid sized initiatives (epics) and drive continuous improvement

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree required (preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field)


• 3–5 years of experience in DevOps, Build & Release Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Software Engineering


• Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as C#, Java, Python, or similar


• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code


• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Bamboo, or similar tools)


• Strong scripting experience (PowerShell required; Bash or similar preferred)


• Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud environments


• Working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Linux systems


• Experience developing automation tools or frameworks


• Demonstrated practical use of AI tools to enhance development workflows, automation, and troubleshooting


• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a collaborative team environment


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
