Plate machine operator

Job Summary

The Plate Maker is responsible for producing, preparing, and maintaining high-quality printing plates used in manufacturing and packaging operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical precision, and the ability to follow detailed specifications to ensure optimal print performance and on-time production. The Plate Maker plays a critical role in maintaining quality standards and supporting overall production efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce printing plates in accordance with job specifications, artwork files, and work orders

• Set up, expose, process, and finish plates using designated plate-making equipment

• Inspect plates for accuracy, defects, and overall quality prior to release to production

• Troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to ensure plates meet established print standards

• Maintain accurate documentation, job logs, and quality control records

• Perform routine cleaning, calibration, and preventative maintenance on plate-making equipment

• Handle plates and related materials carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or defects

• Adhere to all safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and company policies

• Collaborate with press operators, supervisors, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless workflow and production timelines

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience in plate making, printing, or a manufacturing environment preferred

• Ability to read and interpret job tickets, technical specifications, and written instructions

• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality control

• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and quality standards

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, and move throughout the duration of the shift

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance

• Manual dexterity and strong visual acuity for detailed inspection and precision work

Work Environment

• Manufacturing or production facility setting

• Exposure to industrial noise, chemicals, and equipment (with required PPE)

• Fast-paced, team-oriented production environment
