Salary: $100,000$125,000 annual base salary plus bonus opportunity, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.

Job Summary:

Old Dominion Heat Trace is seeking an Estimator to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. The Estimator will analyze project plans, specifications, labor, materials, equipment, and other related costs while supporting project success through detailed cost analysis and budgeting.

The ideal candidate will have experience estimating heat trace projects and a strong understanding of industrial and commercial construction processes. We are seeking a detail-oriented professional who can accurately evaluate project requirements, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support successful project execution from preconstruction through completion.

Please note: This is a full-time, in-office position based at our main headquarters in Richmond, Virginia. Remote work is not available for this role. Relocation assistance will be offered for qualified candidates who do not currently reside in or near the Richmond, Virginia area.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing, and other duties will be assigned based on the positions role within the business unit.

  • Manage bid pricing from all vendors
  • Reviewdocumentation (e.g.,plans, specifications),communicatewith the vendorand contractor, and visits job sites and other venues as neededto ensure understanding of the scope of work and project requirements
  • Research the cost of items (e.g., materials, equipment, labor)on an ongoing basis to ensureaccurateestimates
  • Complete take-offs usingonscreentake-off software to gather information needed for bids
  • Generateaccurate, detailed,andtimelyestimates and purchase orders for all products
  • Prepare andsubmitbid packageswithin specifiedtimeframe
  • Conduct ongoingcost analysisto verify profitability andadjustestimating procedures when necessary
  • Buildandmaintaineffectiveworking relationships with vendorsand trade partners
  • Manage all potential change orders
  • Communicateswith trade partners and team membersthroughout all stages of the projectto ensure the project stays within budget
  • Continuallyseekandidentifyopportunities to grow and position the business for success
  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of project logs and directories ofsuppliers,contractorsandother trade partners

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least three years of experiencein construction estimatingin Heat Trace
  • Bachelors degree in Applied Science, Engineering or related field
  • Ability to read, understand, and navigate architectural plans andspecifications
  • Ability to multi-task, meet strict deadlines, and manage time and priorities effectively
  • Considerable knowledge ofconstruction processes
  • Excellentinterpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Excellentmath and analytical skills
  • Detail-orientatedand decisive
  • Proficiencyin MS Word and Excel
  • Impeccableproblem solvingskills
  • Demonstrated ability to be self- motivated,proactiveandan effectiveteam player.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and other trade partners

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to the following:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to walk, sit, stand, bend, kneel, stretch, squat and climb.
  • Able to travel to jobsites, meetings, and other destinations as needed.
  • Able to wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Able to work with specialized construction equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Able to see, talk and hear in person, via phone and/or through online/video.
  • Able to use hands and fingers in a manner that allows for use of a keyboard and phone.
  • Able to lift & carry items up to 10 lbs.
