Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Heavy Equipment Mechanic – Aggregate Plant
Rockydale Quarries is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our maintenance team at our Staunton, VA aggregate plant . This role supports plant maintenance operations and may require travel to other company locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine, preventative, and scheduled maintenance on mobile and heavy equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues to minimize downtime
- Drive equipment and company vehicles to and from job sites and plant locations
- Operate cranes and other lifting equipment as required
- Perform welding and fabrication based on drawings, specifications, and original designs
- Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure clear communication and efficient operations
- Maintain safe work practices in compliance MSHA regulations
- Follow all safety procedures to prevent accidents and moving violations
- Maintain good housekeeping, including equipment appearance, workspaces, and shop areas
- Perform additional maintenance-related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3–5 years of maintenance or heavy equipment mechanic experience preferred
- Aggregate industry experience and familiarity with related equipment strongly preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Welding and fabrication proficiency required
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as production demands require
