Manufacturing Quality Assurance Inspector
Manufacturing Quality Assurance Inspector
Location: Chantilly, VA
Compensation: $19–21/hour
Schedule: Full-Time | Onsite
A day in this role
When you arrive on the production floor, you’ll grab your calipers and gauges, review the day’s build schedule, and start by evaluating incoming materials. As assemblies progress, you’ll compare measurements to engineering drawings, confirm tolerances, and run functional checks with testing instruments. Any defect you spot gets documented immediately, isolated from good stock, and communicated to the team. You’ll join quick huddles with production and engineering to dig into root causes, track corrective actions, and help verify that fixes truly work. Throughout the shift, you’ll keep meticulous records to maintain compliance with company procedures and industry standards, and you’ll contribute ideas to reduce rework and improve flow.
What you’ll do
- Inspect raw materials, components, subassemblies, and finished goods across the production lifecycle.
- Confirm conformance to specifications, tolerances, and performance criteria using calipers, gauges, and other test equipment.
- Perform thorough visual inspections to catch cosmetic defects and deviations.
- Record inspection data and maintain complete quality documentation in line with company and regulatory expectations.

- Segregate and label nonconforming product to protect downstream processes and customers.
- Support root cause analysis with cross-functional partners and assist with CAPA implementation.
- Verify completion and effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
- Evaluate quality control methods and recommend process improvements that reduce defects and increase efficiency.
- Participate in internal and external audits and uphold quality system requirements (ISO 9001 experience preferred).
