Forklift Operator

Safely operate a Forklift/Telehandler to move, load, and position materials for duct bank construction. Assist with excavation, backfilling, and grading around duct bank trenches. Transport conduit, rebar, concrete, and other materials to installation areas. Maintain clear communication with signal persons and crew members during lifts and material placement. Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate Forklift/Telehandler safely to move and position materials.
• Assist with excavation and grading around duct bank trenches.
• Transport materials like conduit, rebar, and concrete to installation sites.
• Communicate effectively with signal persons and crew during material handling.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections and perform routine maintenance on equipment.

• 2+ years of experience operating a Forklift/Telehandler.
• Proficiency in operating rough terrain loaders in challenging conditions.
• Skilled in safe loading/unloading and material placement techniques.
• Understanding of underground utility protection and jobsite hazard awareness.

• Experience working in construction environments.
• Ability to work day and night shifts.

Work Environment

Work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, rain or shine. The schedule includes Monday through Saturday with shifts ranging from 10 to 12 hours, offering both day and night shift openings.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr.
